Case Study: Branding and a Website from the Ground Up for Mosaic Property Valuations

Challenge

Mosaic Property Valuations is a property appraisal company based in New Orleans, Louisiana, that performs commercial and residential property appraisals as well as a range of other related services across the country. Formerly a franchisee of Valbridge Property Advisors, the Mosaic team decided to strike out as an independent company and needed a new brand from scratch. We worked with them to develop a new company name, visual brand, brand voice, collateral set, and website that would support them through the opening of their business and in years to come.

A New Brand for a New Company

New Company Name + Brand Voice

To help Mosaic Property Valuations pick their new name, we evaluated several ideas they had already gathered, ideated on them, shared potential storytelling options associated with each name, and conducted research to understand the landscape for closely named competitors as well as availability of website domains and social media handles. By reviewing previous marketing collateral, past press releases, and other writing samples from the client, we were able to adopt their brand voice and express their values.

Creating a Visual Brand

Once we had the Mosaic Property Valuations name, it was time to craft a new visual brand for the company. We put together a color palette and typographic style system that’s rich and professional, but still approachable and modern. Saturated gradients drive a lot of the visual interest of the brand. We worked closely with the Mosaic team to create an icon that visually references property appraisals with stylized commercial buildings and centers a single taller building in Mosaic’s main purple, representing Mosaic as the leader in their field.

Filling Out the Brand: Collateral Set + One-Pager

As part of Mosaic Property Valuations’ branding, we provided them with a set of collateral, including business card, letterhead, and envelope designs. We also added on a one-pager that the Mosaic team was able to use at networking and industry events early on, even before they’d released their new logo to the public.

Mosaic’s New Website

After finalizing Mosaic Property Valuations’ branding, we moved on to their new WordPress website.

Interactive Project Map

Mosaic is based in New Orleans, but they work in states across the US. To show this, we built an interactive continental US state map that highlights the states Mosaic is licensed in, as well as other states they’ve previously worked in. Users can click on a state to see the projects Mosaic has completed there.

Custom Icon Set

We also designed a custom set of icons for Mosaic’s website, including icons representing their additional services and their company values. There’s nothing like a unique icon set to make a site feel hand-crafted!

Project Spotlights Feed

The Mosaic team wanted to be able to feature their past projects, so we built out a set of templated project spotlights that include information on past properties and the work they did. Since these are templated, it’ll be easy for their team to add more spotlights in the future.

Repurposing Valuable Content as Blog Posts

We also set up a blog to house several existing short-form pieces on property appraisals that one of Mosaic’s senior managing directors had previously posted on LinkedIn. This was a good way to repurpose existing content that their team already had into valuable website content—and it’s templated, too, so their team can continue to add future posts.
