Specialist Posting

Outbound Content Specialist

This is a fully remote, 25–35 hour / week (part or full-time with a one-hour lunch break), Specialist position for Fall 2026. We’re seeking an Outbound Content Specialist to work with our team as they learn how companies earn citations and links, and how to write the newsletters that keep their audiences engaged. This is a great fit for someone building a portfolio in digital PR, SEO, email marketing, or content marketing. You’ll work directly on real client accounts, pitching journalists and publications, tracking placements, and drafting newsletters that actually get sent.

You must be located in one of the following states to be considered for this role: Louisiana, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, or Texas.

We are a smaller business that puts people first — which means we take the time to review each application that comes in ourselves, not with an AI processor. We ask that you approach this application in kind, writing your answers yourself and limiting the use of AI so we get to know the real you.

Job Responsibilities

  • Researching journalists, publications, directories, and niche sites that are worth pitching for client citation and link opportunities
  • Building and maintaining outreach and placement trackers so every client’s link profile is documented and up to date
  • Drafting, formatting, and scheduling newsletters for client accounts
  • Reviewing newsletter performance (opens, clicks, unsubscribes) and bringing ideas for what to test next

Where You’ll Work

Online Optimism is an award winning creative digital agency founded in 2012 recognized for our commitment to staff and company culture. We’ve been named a Best Place to Work in New Orleans 8 times.

We offer a hybrid work environment where you can choose to work in-office at our headquarters in New Orleans, or at home every day.

Who are we looking for?

You Want:

  • To build your SEO, content writing, or email marketing portfolio.
  • Real, hands-on experience working on live client accounts, not practice projects.
  • To learn how a link goes from a cold pitch to a published citation.
  • To see your writing go out to real subscriber lists and measure how it performed.

You Have:

  • Strong writing skills, especially the kind that make a stranger want to reply.
  • Comfort with research and the patience to dig for the right contact.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, since outreach lives and dies by follow-up.
  • An interest in SEO, content writing, or email marketing, and a willingness to learn the parts you don’t know yet.
  • Reliability and consistency across multiple client accounts at once.

You’re Excited By:

  • Pitching a range of industries, from national brands to local New Orleans businesses.
  • Getting a “yes” from a publication and watching the link go live.
  • Writing newsletters people actually open, then figuring out why they did.
  • Owning a measurable piece of client work you can point to later.
